Urgent Kitty Rescues!

The kitties on this page are in urgent need of help. They are in shelters that do not have no-kill policies, or their owners can no longer care for them. We need to find foster homes or adoptive families for these sweet kitties immediately or they may be put down. If you are interested in adopting a Maine Coon mix, please consider one of these kitties. If you would like us to courtesy list an urgent kitty for you, please click here to fill out and submit the form.

MCA doesn't have enough foster space to rescue all of the kitties who need our help. If you can provide foster care for these kitties, even on a temporary basis, please e-mail mainecoonadoptions.apps@gmail.com.

Coco

Bonjour, mes amis! My name is Coco, as in Chanel, the style icon and designer. I think I could be in the fashion industry; I mean, check me out, with my gorgeous dilute tortie calico markings. Not only do I look fabulous, I’m also very loving and would make an excellent companion kitty. I’m affectionate, even-tempered, gentle, and everything you want in a kitty. You’ll enjoy having me around at all times. I am only one and a half to two years of age, have been spayed, tested negative, and am up to date on all my shots. Mikey

Hi everybody! I’m Mikey. You could call me Michael or just Mike, but I think Mikey makes me sound more accessible and definitely more fun. Don’t you? I mean, you just want to hang out all day with Mikey, right? Hope so, because that’s my favorite thing. Like many big orange boys, I’m incredibly sweet, mellow, even-tempered, and affectionate -– very affectionate. I’m just two years old, good with other cats and dogs, and friendly with new people. A real lap cat and all-around great guy is what I am. I’d even be fine with people who’ve never adopted a cat before. I’d teach them to love kitties; that’s how fabulous I am. I have been neutered, tested negative, and am up to date on all my shots. I’m currently in Long Beach, so if you’d like to learn more about me or maybe come meet me, contact Denise and she’ll set you up.

London and Paris

Hellooo! We are London and Paris, two adorable kitties named after fabulous cities. We’re both about two years of age and great friends and, like our namesake cities, each have distinct personalities. Paris (the tabby), is more outgoing and more of a cuddle monkey. You know those French and their amour, right? London likes to play and cuddle as much as Paris but is a little more reserved and enjoys sleeping in her own little cat bed (unlike Paris, who’s right up in the bed snuggling). We both love to cuddle and wrestle with each other and are very good with new people and children. When our mom has guests over, we come right up to greet them (Paris will go even further and can be cuddled). Our mom loves us very much but unfortunately has to find us a new home because of allergies and asthma problems that have developed with the human types. She said she would send us to our new home with all sorts of toys and beds. We both love to play with the laser and the cat dancer and especially with the faucet. (Did you know water comes out of there? We’re big fans of water.) We have been spayed, microchipped, tested negative, and are up to date on all our shots.

Tilly

Hi everybody! My name is Tilly. Did you know that it means “mighty in battle”? Well, I’m more like mighty in love, or mighty in sweetness. Mighty in good nature, that’s me all right. You could even say that I’m mighty in good looks with my lovely ticked tabby coat. I’m a young girl at about a year and a half and very even tempered. I love people and love greeting new people. Rags

Hey! My name is Rags. You know how rags soak up things? Well, I like to soak up love. I’m a sweet, timid boy who loves people, and I’m very attentive to the human voice and eye contact. When I say eye contact, I mean I can hold that gaze for a long time, hanging on every word you say. If you say “Why don’t you go lie down?” I will do just that. I am hoping to find a home where I can show what a good listener and snuggler I can be. I would be a great cat for a first-time adopter. I need to find a home soon, too, as the woman who helped rescue me has two kitties who are being mean to me. Despite them, I do like other kitties and would be happy to be in a house with a friendly cat or two. I’m just two years of age and a big boy with gorgeous tabby markings highlighted with white on my chest and one leg. I have been neutered and am quite healthy, even though I have tested positive for FIV. If you have heard of this diagnosis and think it means I will be sickly and unhappy, that couldn't be farther from the truth. We FIV+ kitties can live long, happy, and healthy lives just the same as other kitties. We can even live with kitties who are FIV- as long as we get along.

Kittens!!!!

Lake County Animal Care & Control has and will have lots and lots of kittens and mama cats looking for homes throughout the spring and summer! So if you’re looking for an adorable kitten or young mama cat with kittens, please check our web site (but realize that it could be a bit out of date as we are so busy…). The kittens in the photo have been adopted but are a sample of the kittens that we have…so come make the drive north and see who we have!
