Zodiak Zak The Attack Cat - Home At Last

Hello, my name is Zodiac- Zak The Attack Cat. I came from a shelter in Oakland and spent over nine months in the rescue waiting for the perfect home. I started out as Vinnie, and added a few names as I went along including Mr. Crankypants, and Zigried, I even had a wine named after me with me picture with the title Zigfried.s Zin, but we settled on Zak.
I arrived into Kevin and Lou Ann.s life in September 2006 and I now live with two Dalmatians who have been taught that the cats rule the house and the dogs are not allowed to chase or even bark at me. After I was here about a month they decided to bring home another cat, Zarina. Zarina knows how to get attention and is a total suck up always wanting to sit on Lou Ann.s lap and be petted, and I just continue to make it clear that I was here first and I am the King of the house.
Since humans are clueless about how to read cat signals and communication we have run into a few issues along the way. Lou Ann also "tried" to put me on a diet, why she did that I'll never know; I am just a big .fluffy. cat at 19 lbs. I really like that fact that when humans first see me they usually say something like "That is the fattest cat I have ever seen". She is measuring out how much food I can have and feeding me 3 small meals a day. Well that didn.t really work for me so when I got hungry, I just went into the closet and jumped up to the third shelf about four feet off the ground where she had the food stored and rip open the bag of cat food and helped myself. Boy she really got upset when she found out what I had been doing (she used my whole name), and she couldn.t believe that a .fluffy. cat could jump that high.
All things considered, this is a pretty nice place to live, even though Kevin is compelled to carry me around like a baby and sing the Zodiak Zak the Attack cat song every day. It is only because they have just feed me and that the rest of the time the worship the ground that I .lay. on that I put up with it. The dogs are just that dogs, what more can you say about lower life forms. As long as Zarina continues to worship me, I will enjoy having her company. The best thing about being here is, even when I get an attitude and want to be Mr Cranky pants and hiss at every one; Kevin and Lou Ann celebrate my crankiness and know that I love them anyway. LouAnn just says "Zak's attitude is like the weather, give it five minutes and it will change". Lou Ann.s mother says that I am her .payback. since she has no .sassy. children and I just know this is where I am meant to be.
I want to thank all the folks at Maine Coon Adoptions for taking care of me till my humans could find me. I know that I was sometimes a problem, but hey I AM THE CAT, so it.s OK.
