ShaSha
I just brought ShaSha back from her well-cat visit with the vet, who has pronounced her in good health. ShaSha had her leukemia booster and is feeling a little 'sedate' now, in reality she is passed out on my (our) bed. This is fine with me as it gives me an opportunity to use my computer without having her draped all over my lap, a rarity these days. She has gained a pound since her first physical and has started to play a bit since moving in with me. When I first had her home she would get in my lap and start 'kneading' with her paws and claws to annoying excess, but as time has progressed, this has noticeably lessened to the point where it is just a prelude to getting comfortable. Sudden arm/hand movements will sometimes startle her and she ran away and hid under my bed when I tossed a little catnip mouse in her direction. I wonder if there is some sort of human abuse in her recent past.
She is definitely a cat that needs a quiet household and seems very happy here.
ShaSha got her name as a little word play with ChatChat (French for 'cat-cat). I was talking about her at work and one of my coworkers (who was born in Afghanistan) wanted me to carefully pronounce her name, which I did. She then started laughing a lot and informed me that in Farsi or Persian (the language spoken in Iran and Afghanistan) Sha Sha translates as 'pee-pee'. I am not going to change her name though as ShaSha is not a persian (bad pun here...) but a good ol' American 'BFC' or Big Furry Cat.
She is everything I had been hoping to find and adopt, and she is going to be loved and well cared for to the end of her days.
