Ella and Tony: lost their mom; lost their home

Ella and Tony's mom died last May and they lived outside, in their yard, while the Mom's daughter looked frantically for a home for them. She knew that if she brought them to a shelter, they would be put down b/c they were "older" - only six, but that is considered "older"! Due to her own cat situation, the daughter could not bring them into her family. The daughter searched endlessly for a home for them, and was running out of time as her mother's house was being sold and they would have to leave the yard. She found out about us at Maine Coon Rescue in the nick of time, and brought them to a foster home in Oakland where they lived for a month or so, quite happily and purring a lot.

Joe learned about the kitties when his woman friend in LA contacted MCR to adopt two kitties for herself. In a conversation with the woman, the foster learned about Joe, who lived in the East Bay, and said, "oh, Joe should adopt Ella and Tony! He needs some kitties for himself up here!" Well, Joe went online, saw the kitties, came to meet them and - a few days later, they went home with him and as you can see in the photos, are quite happy in their new home. And Joe is quite happy to have them as companions.

This is a lesson to all of us: make provisions for your pets before an emergency arises. Since January, MCR has taken in five kitties who become homeless due to a health emergency, aging or death.
