Our Overlooked Kitties

Updated January 22, 2012

Here are some of our kitties that, for some reason, have been overlooked by our past adopters. Perhaps they are a bit "mature" (i.e. older), or a bit shy, or... who knows why? We know that all animals give back far more love than we can ever give them, and so we hope you will consider one of these kitties.

Penguin

Hi everybody! My name is Penguin. Yep, Penguin. You know, like all those cool birds in the tuxedo suits that star in the movie “Happy Feet.” I’ve got the same coloring (yes, I’m a dapper lad in a tuxedo) and I’m so happy to have found an indoor place to stay that I very well could spend all my days dancing around with happy feet. ;-) My foster mom found me as a stray living outside and was really surprised anyone would’ve let a gem like me go. I’m a young guy (under a year of age) and have the great combination of being young enough to play and make you laugh but am past those wild destructive kitten days. I’m very smart – my foster mom has even taught me some tricks using a clicker – and incredibly sweet and affectionate. I love everybody and will greet people and rub up against them when I first meet them. I like to chat and snuggle and give head butts and then just purr purr purr with happiness. I also get along with other kitties (with proper introduction). I weigh about 11 pounds and have been neutered, microchipped, tested negative and am up to date on all my shots.

Esther

My name is Esther which is a very cool name – some think it’s of Persian origin meaning “star,” or it might be from a Hebrew form of the Persian goddess Ishtar. Pretty cool to have that name lineage, don’t you think? And some of you may know that In the Old Testament, Esther is the name of the Jewish queen of King Ahasuerus of Persia who saves her people from the wicked plans of Haman. Wow! Didn’t know all that was behind my name, did you? And I’m also super unique in that I am a manx – a kitty born without the traditional long kitty tail. Now in my case, I’m called a “stumpy” in the manx kitty world as I have a bit of a tail, kind of like a little bobcat (it’s pretty cute.) I am very mellow and easy going, get along well with other kitties and to tell you the truth, I have a wise, calm demeanor about me. With the great legacy of my name, I’d kind of just grew into having a regal (but warm and friendly) demeanor. Oh, I’m about six to eight years of age, my liver, kidney and thyroid are all very healthy and I just had my teeth removed (I just didn’t floss like my dentist told me to!) but I can eat dry and wet food easily and have a good appetite. See how much I love affection in my video!

Kiwi

Hello! My name is Kiwi. Did you know that it’s the name for both a fruit and a person from New Zealand? I think that’s kind of cool, even though I’m not a fruit or from New Zealand, although I do know that New Zealand just won the rugby world cup. I’m smart like that. I am also darling, sweet, and loving. Big, noisy, public events like adoption days and fairs make me a little nervous, so I’m having trouble letting the world know just how adorable I am. I’m about five years of age and in a foster home where I get along fine with the other kitties and even a small dog. I’ve had my shots, been spayed, and am really ready for a home where I can show all the love I have to give. If you would like to come and see me in my foster home, just make an appointment by calling 925-915-9489. If the voicemail is full, please call again or send an e-mail to lsoucie1@yahoo.com. The adoption fee at Pets and Pals Rescue is $100 plus $15 for a microchip.

Annie

Hello all! My name is Annie. There have been a lot of famous Annies -- Little Orphan Annie, Annie Oakley... I like to think of myself as Adorable Annie. As you can see, I am quite beautiful, with tortie point Ragdoll features and beautiful light blue eyes. My fur is medium length and my legs look as if they have been sprinkled with gold dust. My personality is just as lovely. I’m very human focused and loving but not needy or high maintenance. No, I’m happy to just sit nearby. I do love being groomed and don’t mind other cats (I just ignore them). I’ve got a few years on me -- 11 -- so am my own woman and quietly confident. I settle in quickly and am really sweet. Truthfully, you couldn’t ask for more in a kitty. I’m in good health, although I do have a touch of kidney trouble so I need to be on special food. Other than that, I’m just dandy. I have been spayed, microchipped, tested negative and am up to date on all my shots (and not the kind of shots that Annie Oakley would make! See? I even have a sense of humor.)
