Ruby
Ruby was found in the desert near Edwards Air Force base in the Mojave Desert, probably left behind by her moving military family. She was picked up and brought to “security forces” on the base where the cats are kept in steel cages so small that there is no room for a litter box. She was scheduled to be euthanized as she was “not friendly”. I looked into her eyes and saw she was so lonely and felt so abandoned. I took her home and let her rest on a thick cushioned bed and let her have time to watch our family talk to her and spoil her. She soon felt loved and relaxed and her wonderful personality came back to life. She slept on my bed with me at every opportunity. I still see her on my bed now, sleeping. We had her for a month before Maine Coon Adoptions took her to get her adopted through its organization; an older kitty such as her would never get adopted where I live. However, she was soon diagnosed with cancer of the larynx and had to be euthanized. I will not forget angel Ruby, she touched my life briefly and I am honored that God let me show her what love was again. Ruby will not be forgotten and has a permanent place in my heart. —Carmel
